24 January to 9 February 2025; Calcutta Memorabilia

The ‘Calcutta Memorabilia’ a special exhibition, inaugurated at Victoria Memorial Hall in collaboration with the INTACH Calcutta Chapter in the majestic Durbar Hall presents a carefully curated collection contributed by community members, offering a unique glimpse into Calcutta’s heritage. This initiative highlights the vital role of community partnerships in preserving and sharing local histories, allowing individuals to engage with the past in a meaningful way.

A special section dedicated to women’s histories further enriches the exhibition by providing a platform to showcase narratives that have often been overlooked. By including these underrepresented stories, the exhibition aims to foster a more inclusive understanding of Calcutta’s history, honoring the contributions of women to the city’s development and cultural fabric.

Among the key exhibits are the Dress of magician P.C. Sorcar, rare newspapers dated 15 August 1947, matchbox covers featuring women, and many more fascinating pieces that bring to life Calcutta’s diverse cultural and historical journey.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 24 January to 9 February 2025.
