Queen's Hall | Central Hall

The Central Hall or the Queen’s Hall is one of the key attractions of Victoria Memorial Hall. Circular in shape, it has a life-size marble statue of Queen Victoria (1819-1901) by Sir Thomas Brock, standing in the centre of the Hall, directly under the main dome of the monument.

In the recesses of the walls of the circular hall are marble panels, on which are inscribed in different languages, extracts from Queen Victoria’s proclamations on the occasion of the assumption by the Crown of the Empire of India (1858) and on the occasion of her assumption of the title – Empress of India (1877).

Underneath the central dome, are a series of twelve semi-circular canvas paintings by Frank Salisbury, depicting the important events in the life of Queen Victoria.
