Rare Photographs
British colonial officials sought to use different mediums to document India. While the earlier method of documentation was aquatints and lithographs, with the advent of cameras, India was profusely captured, and documented. These photographs were widely reproduced. The Victoria Memorial Hall possesses in its collection, rare photographs by Bourne & Shepherd and Johnston & Hoffmann.
